Greene County was a 7-6 non-conference high school softball winner Thursday night at Ft. Dodge vs. St. Edmond. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams have won two games in a row and are 6-15 on the season with the Gaels falling to 8-10.

The victory against the Gaels came down to the wire after the Rams led 7-3 in the bottom of the seventh. St. Edmond scored three times in their last at bat to make it a one run game. The Rams committed consecutive infield errors, coupled with a single, double, and ground out for the three unearned runs. The game ended on a ground out to shortstop Jenna Beyers. Greene County was charged with six errors for the game while the Gaels were charged with two.

Eighth grader Emma Hoyle pitched all seven innings and picked up the win. She allowed eight hits and just one earned run. Hoyle walked one batter and struck one out.

On offense, the Rams scored two times in the first and third innings, and added three sixth inning runs. Greene County never trailed in the contest and totaled nine hits. Beyers, Karissa Stephenson, and Tieryn Tucker each had two hits with one each from Izzy Bravard, Kyla Beyers, and Carymn Paup. Jenna Beyers and Tucker each had a double, and Karissa Stephenson doubled twice. Stephenson drove in three runs with two RBI for Tucker, and one RBI apiece for Paup and Kyla Beyers.

The Rams are off today and they are scheduled to play in Stanhope tomorrow at the South Hamilton tournament.
