The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is offering creative art classes throughout the summer months.
Art on the Fly has four classes that are open to anyone first grade and older. The first class will be this Monday from 1 to 2:30pm. The “Follow the Arrow” theme allows participants to use acrylic paint and glitter on a 12-by-12-inch canvas. The next class will be on Monday, June 24th also from 1 to 2:30pm. The “Mini Macrame” class will have participants learning various knotting techniques to make a plant hanger.
The final two classes are in July. The “Fabulous Fiber Art” class uses basic weaving patterns with yarn, wool and found nature objects to make unique displays of art. That class will take place on Monday, July 22nd from 1 to 2:30pm. The final class will be on Monday, July 29th from 1 to 2:30pm with a “Crazy Creature” theme. Participants will get to use fabric, felt and fibers to create a stuffed “creature.” Individuals must be old enough to thread a large needle and learn basic stitches.
Each class is $20 and includes materials. The instructor will be Jolene Peters and all classes will take place at the Greene County Community Center. To sign up, call 386-3412 or stop by the community center in Jefferson.
