The first of two Friday Fest events has come and gone, and the Perry Chamber of Commerce felt it was a successful summer celebration.

The festivities were held at the bandshell in Pattee Park, featuring a free concert by the Adel-based band South of Society. Most of the attendees brought their own food and beverages, but those that didn’t were able to pay for a meal that supported the Perry Firefighters Association. There were also baked goods provided by the incoming junior class from Perry High School as a fundraiser for next year’s prom, and Sesquicentennial t-shirts and commemorative coins on sale as well. Other activities during the evening included face painting and sidewalk chalk drawing.

Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti felt the first Friday Fest of the summer went without a hitch, though it was perhaps a little lighter attended than she had hoped. However, she felt those that did come were able to experience a great concert and perfect weather during the event. More than anything, Pasutti said it was great to see so many families out enjoying the free entertainment and celebrating the Perry community. The second Friday Fest will be held on August 2nd, and there’s a possibility it will be located downtown.
