Don’t forget, the first of two Friday Fest events is happening tonight at Pattee Park in Perry.
The event will run from 6:30-10 p.m. in the bandshell area, with music provided by the Adel-based band South of Society. Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti says there will also be face-painting and sidewalk chalk for kids to enjoy, as well as something fun for everyone. She adds, Friday Fest is also easy on the wallet. “So it’s free to attend, just come on out (and) bring the kids. It’s fun to see the kids running around and playing with each other. It’s just a really fun event, very casual (and) laid back. Ultimately, it’s just a fun time to get out (and) see your neighbors, see your friends, enjoy live music, and enjoy that it’s summertime!”
Pasutti reminds attendees that they may bring their own baskets of food and drinks, and that beer and wine is allowed. However, she emphasizes that glass bottles are not allowed, and people should keep their adult beverages in the bandshell area. There will be food and nonalcoholic beverages for sale at the event as well. There will be a second Friday Fest on August 2nd, which will possibly be located in the downtown area, and the Fourth of July and Sesquicentennial Celebrations will be the first weekend in July.
