The ACGC baseball team certainly had a May to forget, capped off with a 16-1 thumping by the CAM Cougars Friday night.

The Chargers gave up a record number of runs in a single inning after CAM scored eleven in the bottom of the 1st. Starting pitcher Eli Kading gave up seven walks and the eleven runs before Ben Kingery came in relief. On the flip side, CAM starting pitcher Colby Rich struck out seven Charger batters and allowed just one hit.

After CAM extended the lead to 13, Kingery scored the first run since opening night. He came across the plate in the top of the 4th after the tag attempt on Charlie Crawford’s steal to 2nd was unsuccessful. The Cougars reached the 16th run in the bottom of the 4th, ending the game with the 15-run rule.

The Chargers fall to 0-6 on the season, with all six games ending in mercy rules. The gold and black will get another chance at getting their first win of the season when they host Panorama on Monday.
