The Panorama girls soccer season came to an end Friday with a 4-0 loss to North Polk in the regional semifinal.
The two teams were scoreless at halftime, but North Polk held a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal at the midway point. They were able to break through for all four goals after the break. With the victory, the Comets move on to face Des Moines Christian for a spot in the state tournament.
It’s the second straight year Panorama’s season has ended in the regional semis. They finish with a record of 11-6.
They can look forward to returning plenty of firepower again next year with the bulk of their scoring coming from three sophomores and a freshman. Ella Waddle led the way, finishing with 23 goals. Audrey Cmelik, Paige Cmelik and Laci Rishel each notched double digit goals as well. They will however need to replace their primary goalkeeper after the graduation of Ashley Clark.
