The Greene County Grief Support Group continues to meet once a month and their next meeting is tomorrow.
The open and confidential meetings take place the first Saturday of every month from 10 to 11am at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson. Co-organizer Pauline Borst says it is for anyone going through any level of grief. She points out that attendees can just come and listen to others share their stories and they can share their stories as well. By providing an open discussion and safe space, Borst believes it allows those going through grief a positive environment to find comfort and support. She talks about other benefits of being in a group setting.
“It’s always good to know that somebody else does have the same issues, and the same problems, the same feelings that you’re having, and it’s good to share that. And it’s also an opportunity for them to develop some friendships and say, ‘Hey can we go for coffee Friday night? Would you like to go to a movie?’ Having some people in your life that are supportive of what you’re going through is wonderful for any of us no matter what our age or our situation.”
Free coffee and other refreshments will be served at the meetings. No registration is necessary.
