A Stuart man was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to a felony for a theft incident in Greene County.
According to court documents, 43-year-old Shawn Robert Clark pled guilty to a Class D Felony for second degree theft. He had his five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on two years of probation.
The charge stemmed from an incident that was investigated by the Jefferson Police Department on February 24th. The victim reported that her wallet was stolen at the Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson. She told investigators that she had just won an over $1,000 jackpot from a gaming machine. After she cashed out her winnings and put the money in her wallet, it fell out of her purse. Clark found the wallet and the casino’s surveillance video showed Clark entered a restroom with the wallet and then he left. The wallet was never located in the facility.
Clark had his fine and surcharge suspended and was found to be indigent to pay the court-appointed attorney fees. He was also ordered to pay a $125 law enforcement surcharge and over $1,000 in victim restitution.
