The seasons for the Perry Varsity Soccer Teams are over, and now the focus turns to fostering the next generation of footballers in the City.

With that in mind, the Perry Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a pair of soccer camps that will run from June to July. The first will be the 2019 Girls Summer Soccer Academy, led by Varsity Coach Gilmar Guerra. The program is for kids age 5-14, with five age divisions. Space is limited to 10 players per age group, so families are encouraged to sign their kids up soon. During the Academy, participants will learn fundamentals with the help of some of the varsity players. Practices and games will be held Tuesdays and Fridays from June 7th through July 11th at Wiese Park. Cost to participate is $35 and includes a t-shirt, and the deadline to sign up is June 3rd.

The second program is the annual co-ed Youth Soccer Camp for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade with two age divisions. The camp will be taught by Mike Thomason, who will teach fundamentals and various drills. The camp will run from June 11th through July 14th, and the sign-up deadline is June 7th. There is a $15 registration fee for McCreary Center members, and it’s $20 for non-members. To sign up for either of the soccer camps, stop in or call the McCreary Community Building at 515-465-5621.
