Panorama High School recently received the state’s attention from last fall’s production of “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.”

The high school participated in the Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards program for the first time this year, in which judges will audit a school production, giving the students critiques. Panorama received a production award for distinguished scene for their musical number “Gaston.” Teacher and Theater Co-Director Deb Arganbright says it’s the students working both on and off stage who deserve credit, “I’m just really proud of all the students who participated in our play, regardless of whether they were in the scene or regardless of whether they’re performing. I think that we have a really strong drama program here for a school our size, and I think that the kids give it their all and we have a lot of talented people. And I don’t want to forget to say that our music program is very good and I give Mr. Chris Helm full credit for that. He’s a fantastic music teacher and he’s my co-director also.”

Three actors from the production and recent graduates Josie Arganbright, Kordell Gafkjen, and Taylor Raibikis will perform in a medley with other schools at the awards showcase on Monday, June 3rd at the Des Moines Civic Center. For a link to purchase tickets visit here.
