We are now a little more than a week away from the 40th Annual Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson.

There are plenty of activities to signup for with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department. The bags tournament will take place Friday, June 7th on the downtown square, starting with registration at 5:15pm and the competition to begin at 6. There is a $20 per two-person team fee.

Saturday morning is the Ding-Dong-Dash, which will start and end at the Greene County Community Center. Check-ins are from 7 to 7:45am. The one-mile walk will begin at 8, followed by the 5 and 10K race at 8:20. The fee to participate is $25 prior to June 1st, which includes a t-shirt and the fee increases to $30 after June 1st. Dogs are also welcome to join with a $5 additional fee, with the fee to go to the People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

Finally, the American Athletic Incorporated/Spaulding 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will be at Russell Park. Registration begins at noon with games to start at 1pm. It is $15 per player to participate and the winners will receive a new basketball from AAI. It is a double elimination tournament. JPRD Director Vicky Lautner says the previous champion has won it three years in a row.

“Chris Nelson is the one that puts the team together and I think they were ‘three-peats’ last year so I think they’ll be going for the ‘four-peat’ this year.”
