The 2019 Class 2A Boys’ State Golf Tourament was held last week in Marshalltown at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course. The tournament was scheduled to be a two day event, starting on Thursday and ending on Friday afternoon. However, with the heavy rain on Thursday night and Friday morning, the second round on Friday was cancelled, and all scores were final and posted.
West Central Valley Boys’ Golf Coach, David Doely, had one of his players qualify as an individual, for the State Golf Tournament, and the lone qualifier for the Wildcats was, Sophomore, Grant Caltrider.
In a field of 64 total players, Caltrider represented his school well, as he shot a round of 77 that put him on the leaderboard, finishing in eighth place. Eight players finished with a score of 77 and tied for 8th place in Marshalltown.
The overall first place winner of the 2A Boys’ State Golf Tournament was Kolby Shackelford with his recorded score of 69.
Caltrider has two more years of eligibility remaining at West Central Valley High School in Stuart, as he’ll be starting his Junior year this fall.
