The deadline is fast approaching for family farms to signup for Century or Heritage Farm recognition.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship offers the Century Farm and Heritage Farm programs to recognize those farms that have been in continuous family ownership for 100 and 150 years, respectively. The awards are presented annually during the Iowa State Fair in August.

Since the Century Farm program began in 1976, there have been more than 19,000 farms recognized and the Heritage Farm program has honored more than 1,000 family farms since it’s start in 2006. Applications are due by June 1st. Additional information can be found by clicking the link below.
