Greene County was a 10-0 high school baseball non-conference winner over Perry at Allensworth Field in Jefferson on Thursday night. Senior right hander Austin Delp threw a five inning no-hitter and fanned 11 Blue Jays in a game shortened by the 10-run rule. Delp was dominant on the pitching mound just 24 hours after helping Greene County’s boys’ soccer team to reach the Class 1A Substate 8 final on Saturday in Oakland. Delp plans on playing baseball tonight when the Rams host South Hamilton (Jewell), then play soccer on Saturday with a trip to the State Tournament on the line vs. AHSTW (Avoca).
The Rams had four hits, all singles, from Delp, Nick Breon, Brent Riley, and Bryce Stalder. Tyler Teeples had two runs batted in with one RBI from Delp, Breon, Carter Morton, and Joe Carey. Perry had four errors to none for the Rams and Blue Jays’ pitchers walked seven Rams and hit two with pitches. Coach John Hupp’s team moves to 2-0 while Perry falls to 0-2.
