The Dallas County Conservation Board is seeking to foster better engagement with the public, and to that end they’ve installed a pair of “Selfie Stations.”

Outreach Coordinator Ken Keffer says the stations are set up in Redfield and Perry, and people can put their phones on the structures and share pictures of themselves enjoying the Conservation areas. Keffer says selfie stations are popping up in each of the other 99 counties in Iowa, and he’s excited to see the passage of time shown in the pictures. “It’s a statewide effort, kind of our partners across all the county conservation boards. So we’ve got a selfie station at Hanging Rock and one just a little ways down the trail at Forest Park Museum here in Perry. And so these are going to be great places to watch the seasons go by, we picked these sites specifically. You know, a nice prairie view, we got the trees at Hanging Rock. So it’s going to be great!”

Once people take their selfies, Keffer encourages them to post them to Conservation’s social media pages, including Facebook and Instagram.
