The recent completion of Karl Chevrolet’s expansion in Stuart was celebrated with a VIP Grand Opening event Wednesday evening.

The dealership recently finished the renovation of the original building where they first opened in July of 2017, and the construction of a pre-used vehicle facility, service building, and car wash. Karl Chevrolet broke ground on this project in May of 2018, and all of the services are now operating. This expansion was made possible through a development agreement with the City, which required the business to invest a minimum of $10 million into capital improvements, give preference to local contractors, and pay all property taxes assessed. In return, the City underwent about $2.3 million in general obligation bonds and entered into a forgivable loan disbursement with the dealership. The dealership must also establish at least 20 additional full-time positions above the established base workforce by October 1st of 2020. The dealership anticipates hosting a larger grand opening event for the public by early fall.
