The unofficial beginning of summer is upon us, and for many people that means heading into the great outdoors for a getaway vacation.

With that in mind, Dallas County Conservation Outreach Coordinator Ken Keffer reminds people that there are several camping locations throughout the County. “I like to say that getting away from it all is a lot closer than we think: we’ve got tent sites, RV camping, and cabins at Sportsman’s Park there kind of outside of Dawson; we’ve got bigger properties I think that sleeps eight or nine for Glissman; and then at the Dayton Stagecoach Inn, so kind of a historic structure. But really you can get back in these properties and rent out the facility for the weekend, and feel like you’ve got the whole place to yourself. It’s kind of a neat opportunity right here in Dallas County to get away from it all!”

Keffer adds, reservations are required for using any of the County’s camping sites, and can be done on the My County Parks website, or by stopping in or calling Forest Park Museum at 515-465-3577. A link to the online reservations can be found below. To hear more from Keffer, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program on air and at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
