The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met Wednesday in regular session.
The Board discussed hiring an assistant director and a new director of parks and rec. Currently applications are being accepted for the assistant director position. However, since Director Vicky Lautner will be retiring in October, the Board agreed to hire the director position first. A few board members will be speaking to the City of Jefferson’s wage and benefits committee about paying to hire a temporary director to be trained by Lautner before she retires in the fall, then look to hire an assistant director.
The Board approved a request from Elderbridge Agency on Aging to use the entire gym of the Greene County Community Center on October 8th for a Senior Fun Day event. Additionally, the Board approved a bid from Chris Durlam through Midwest Alarm System to upgrade the fire alarm system in the community center. The bid was for $17,000 to have Durlam install the Notifer CPU system and included a $524 annual service fee. The payment would come from hotel/motel tax and the People Active for Community Exercise (PACE) funds.
The Board tabled their decision on upgrading the computer system at the community center. The Board agreed with Lautner’s thought of wanting the new director’s decision on what system to go with before they took action on that topic.
