The Perry School Board will convene Monday evening in regular session.
The meeting will start with a public hearing on the proposed resolution to continue the District’s participation in the instructional support program. Following the hearing, the Board will consider approval of the resolution. During reports, middle school teacher Terra Webb will give an update on the Capturing Kids Hearts program. In general business, the Board will consider adopting a resolution directing the bidding for the sale of the $6.5 million in general obligation bonds approved in the recent bond referendum for the industrial tech facility and wrestling room project. Also related to that project, the Board will consider a financial services agreement with Piper Jaffray & Co, and appointing them as dissemination agents for secondary market disclosures, as well as an engagement agreement with Ahlers & Cooney to serve as bond council.
Following that, the Board will have discussion and possible action on several items related to teacher, staff, and administration contracts, including: a tentative agreement with the Perry Education Association; a three-year master contract with the PEA; contracts for PEA staff including extra-curricular, TLC, extended contracts, and letters of agreement; a tentative agreement with the Perry Support Staff Association; a master contract for the PSSA; contracts for support staff; contracts for Perry’s Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services (PACES) support staff; contracts for administrators; and contracts for the special services group.
Other items on the agenda include: approving Capturing Kids Hearts for the elementary school; a memorandum of understanding that would install the Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG) program at Perry Middle School; an MOU for next year’s iJAG program at the high school; an MOU with Des Moines Area Community College; a contract with Timberline Billing Service for medical claim processing; the 2019-20 food purchasing agreements and meal prices; summer food service wages; a trip to the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky; revisions to Board policy; a three-hour early out on June 6th; a sharing agreement with the Madrid School District for boys and girls soccer; and extra duty pay for the commencement services.
Finally, the Board will consider the creation of the building trades class at the high school, which would start in the next school year. The meeting will conclude with a closed session to consider disciplinary action against a student. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in the high school’s Brady Library.
