Jefferson Matters: Main Street has been recognized at the national level for their accomplishments.

JMMS has earned accreditation from the National Main Street Center. They were included with 839 other communities across the country that had met ten national performance standards. Some of the criteria to be considered included building comprehensive and sustainable revitalization efforts with fostering strong public-private partnerships, documenting programmatic progress and actively preserving buildings.

JMMS is evaluated annually by Main Street Iowa, which works in partnership with the National Main Street Center. JMMS is accredited through Main Street America which last year generated almost $5 billion in local reinvestment, opened over 5,300 new businesses, created over 25,000 new jobs and recorded 2.2 million volunteer hours through participating organizations.
