The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.
The meeting began with the Council setting a public hearing for May 20th, where they will consider the fiscal year 2019 budget amendment. Next, they approved the appointment of Matt McDevitt to the Planning and Zoning Commission to fill a vacancy, as well as a permit for J&M Displays to present this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show. Following that, the Council approved an application for an urban renewal loan. Jeremy Mahler, owner of the Common Wealth Provisions sandwich shop at 1215 2nd Street requested $23,800 to remodel the store front. The interest rate on the loan is 3%, and it will be paid back over a five-year period.
Other items approved included: rescinding a resolution approved in 2016 that disposed of public property; a resolution authorizing the sale of an unused vehicle and outdated piece of equipment; establishing the position of Wednesday Fellowship Coordinator and Cook at the McCreary Community Building; a resolution consenting to the transfer of agreements from Bankers Trust to UMB; and a professional service agreement with Bolton and Menk for consultant purposes in evaluating the design of the stormwater wetlands project. The meeting concluded with approval of an amendment to the City’s Code of Ordinances, moving the no parking zone on Estella Street from the north side to the south.
