The ACGC baseball team is gearing up for the start of a new season. The Chargers open up their 2019 campaign two weeks from today at home against Audubon.

Head Coach Taylor Morris begins his tenure in Guthrie Center this year after the contract of former head coach, Dana Fink, was not renewed. The former Dordt College assistant coach shares some of his goals for the team. “I just want the guys to get better day in and day out. Ultimately we want to try to win, obviously, more games than we have in the past. Coming off a four win season last year, the goal at least is to try and double that. The biggest goal is for our guys to go out and get better every single day. We do that, we’re going to be in a lot of baseball games.”

Fink also left some words of wisdom for the new head coach. “I would just say keep working with the kids. There’s a lot of good, young players coming up. Just keep working with them. Don’t give up on them. One of these days they’ll get a break and maybe they’ll turn things around.”

The Chargers are a combined 9-39 in their first two seasons. To hear more from Morris and Fink, listen to tonight’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page. The show begins at 6pm on True Country, K107.9.
