Two Guthrie Center men are in Dallas County Jail following an attempted home invasion in rural Earlham.
Dallas County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Adam Infante reports that dispatch received a call at 3:12 a.m. Friday, from a homeowner located in the 15000 block of Bear Creek Road. The suspects entered the residence from an attached garage and were reportedly looking for money to steal. The homeowner was able to separate himself from the intruders, one of whom was armed, and made the call to law enforcement. The suspects had left before Sheriff’s deputies arrived at around 3:30 a.m. They were then located a short distance from the residence and taken into custody.
The suspects, 40-year-old Mathew Robert Prall and 42-year-old Charles Edward Sanders, are charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony, while Prall was additionally charged with a class D felony for felon in possession of a firearm. Sanders was also charged with a serious misdemeanor for possession of a controlled substance, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.
