The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released boys’ soccer Substate assignments. Teams know who they are grouped with for the postseason, but the exact pairings are based on seeding the top two teams in each Substate, and those are not out yet.

Greene County, ranked sixth in Class 1A, by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association, is grouped with Southwest Iowa programs in Substate 8. The only other ranked team in Substate 8 is ASHTW (Avoca). Others in Substate 8 are Atlantic, Clarinda Academy, Logan-Magnolia, Riverside (Oakland), St. Albert (Council Bluffs), and Underwood. First round matches are set for Monday, May 20 with the semifinals on Wed., May 22, and the Substate 8 final is scheduled for Saturday, May 25. Sites will be announced along with the actual pairings.

Greene County is 7-2 on the season and they’ll next play in the Nevada Tournament tomorrow, opening vs. two-time defending Class 1A State Champion, and number two ranked Iowa City Regina.
