There are a few performances left for the Greene County High School Music Department.
The concert band, treble and mixed choirs are traveling to Harlan High School tomorrow for the Iowa High School Music Association Large Group Festival. Choir Director David Heupel says each group will perform in front of a panel of three judges to compete against a rating system, where a Division I-rating is the highest possible rating a group can get. The songs that the treble choir will sing include: “Hotaru Koi” by Ro Ogura, “Nature Smiled” by Allen Koepke, and “This Is The Day” by Keith Christopher. The mixed choir will perform “Come to the Music” by Joseph Martin, “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Rutter, and “Sinner Man” by David Eddleman.
Following that festival will be the annual Awards Concert on Monday, May 6th at the high school auditorium at 7:30pm. A variety of awards will be given, and seniors in band and choir will be recognized. The last performance is a rescheduled one from February. It will be the “Winter Pops Concert” on Tuesday, May 14th at 8pm also at the auditorium. The theme is “A Tribute to Queen” and it is free and open to the public.
