The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girls’ golf tournament was held Wednesday near Boone at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course under cold and damp conditions. Greene County was last among the seven teams in the field. Saydel did not have a team. Gilbert won the 18 hole event with 375 strokes, followed by Nevada 391, Roland-Story (Story City) 407, South Hamilton (Jewell) 425, PCM (Monroe) 436, North Polk (Alleman) 481, and 488 for the Rams.
Junior Ellie Madson tied for eleventh place at 105 (50-55). Senior Mariah Block shot 57-55=112 with junior Alexis Miller at 63-56=119, and Faith Hankel at 81-71=152. Coach Shawn Zanders told Raccoon Valley Radio the 56 second nine for Miller was a personal best.
Gilbert’s Britta Snyder, one of Iowa’s top female high school golfers shot two-under par 70 and won medalist honors by 16 strokes.
