The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, a landowner in the Drainage District 14 addressed two concerns he had about the proposed repairs. He said the repairs were going to cost him an estimated $180,000 at $750 per acre and another family member was going to cost her about $200,000. His other issue was the proposed repair was replacing the current drainage tile with a 24-inch concrete tile that would operate at 20-percent of the modern standard capacity. The landowner suggested installing an open ditch instead. The Board asked him to bring those concerns to next week’s informational meeting.
The Board then approved hiring Jason Spencer as a full-time basic emergency medical technician (EMT) for the ambulance department with an annual salary of $38,000 and hiring Allison Powell as a part-time basic EMT with a $4 per hour on-call wage and a $17 per hour wage for patient care. They also approved hiring Chad Black as a part-time ambulance driver with a $4 per hour on-call wage and a $10 per hour wage when driving the ambulance.
Finally, County Engineer Wade Weiss gave a brief update. He said he gave several pieces of equipment from the secondary roads department to be auctioned off by the Iowa Department of Transportation on May 11th. He also said he needed to hire a secondary roads employee due to a resignation.
