A couple rounds of thunderstorms brought hail, but no reports of damage through parts of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern Guthrie and northern Adair counties at 8:07pm, which triggered our live Severe Weather Action Team coverage. Before the warning expired around 8:45pm, Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf told Raccoon Valley Radio there was pea to dime-sized hail in Stuart. Other hazards with the storm included over 50-miles-per-hour winds and heavy rainfall.

The second thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service for eastern Guthrie and southern Dallas counties at 8:30pm. During that warning, trained weather spotters had confirmed at least one-inch in diameter size hail near Dexter and DeSoto areas. High winds and heavy rainfall were the other hazards associated with the warning that expired at 9:15.

Both Kempf and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office said there were no immediate reports of damage following either storm. Four Raccoon Valley Radio staff, as well as Weatherology meteorologists, Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management and Dallas County Sheriff’s office all contributed to our Severe Weather Action Team coverage. The one to count on for severe weather coverage is the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
