Coach Heath Telleen’s Greene County boys’ golf team was third among five teams on Friday at the Southeast Valley (Gowrie) Invitational at the Dayton Golf and Country Club. Ogden shot 179 for nine holes to win the event, followed by the host Jaguars at 211, Greene County 221, Manson-Northwest Webster 223, and 270 for Glidden-Ralson.
The Rams were led by Jadon Block’s 46, which was good for fourth place. Sawyer Schiltz shot 50, with Cody Gilbertson at 62, and 63 for Caden Telleen.
Preston Gronseth of Ogden was meet medalist with a 42.
Coach Telleen told Raccoon Valley Radio the tough Dayton course was a challenge for his golfers. He added this week is big for the Rams to continue to show improvement. The Rams play in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Tournament at the Tournament Club of Iowa at 9 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the South Hamilton Tournament at Jewell on Thursday.
