The final two events at the Drake Relays in Des Moines for the Greene County Rams are this morning. Both 4 x 100 meter relay teams will be in action. The girls will take to the Blue Oval around 9:55 and the boys will run around 10:10 a.m. These are preliminary races with only the eight fastest moving on to the final this afternoon.

Coach Derek Merk’s girls qualified 83rd among 96 quartets in the 4 x 100 with senior Melanie Doran, junior Maddy Sigler and sophomores Makala Kafer and Brianna Osterson.

Coach Chad Morton’s boys have the 30th fastest qualifying time among the 96 qualifiers with juniors Tyler Teeples, Carter Morton, Brent Riley, and Colby Kafer.

Colby Kafer was in the boys’ long jump yesterday morning but fouled all three attempts and did not register a distance. That was the only Greene County event on Friday. Morton was sixth on Thursday in the boys’ high jump and Osterson was seventh in the girls’ long jump, also Thursday. Junior Tyler Miller took part in the boys’ shot put Thursday and fouled on two of his three throws. Miller finished 26th in a field of 27 throwers.

The Greene County girls and boys head back to Polk County on Monday when both squads take part in the North Polk Coed Invitational at Alleman.
