Though ACGC had no qualifiers at the Drake Relays this week, they made the most of their full squad as they put up impressive results Thursday at the Gonzales-Parrish Invitational in Guthrie Center.
The girls team won the meet with a season high in points. Seniors Madison McDermott and Savana Fuller, as well as junior Kate Crawford, took two individual golds. McDermott swept the shot put and discuss, Fuller won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and Crawford won the 1500 and 3000 meter runs with both being new meet records.
Crawford also finished 2nd in the 800 meter run. Other top-three finishes for the ACGC girls included: sophomore Jorja Hoover (2nd-400 meter hurdles), freshman Chloe Largent (2nd-high jump), the distance medley relay (2nd), the 4×800 (2nd), senior Lauryn Embleton (3rd-1500) and the shuttle hurdle relay (3rd).
Senior Clay Billheimer collected four golds on the boys side. His two individual golds came in the 800 and 1600. He also anchored the winning distance medley and 4×800 meter relay teams. The Chargers also got top finishes from senior Noah Nelsen in the 3200, senior Dylan Soper in the 100 and 200 meter dash, and junior Quynton Younker in the shot put.
Nelsen and Younker also grabbed three silvers between them. Nelsen collected one each in the 800 and 1600 while Younker took one in the discus. Other top-three finishes for the boys included: junior Sam Madsen (2nd-shot put), freshman Charlie Crawford (3rd-400), the shuttle hurdle relay (3rd), the sprint medley relay (3rd), and the 4×200 (3rd).
The boys team finished second only to IKM-Manning.
