Coach Derek Merk’s Greene County girls’ track & field squad won the Woodward-Granger Co-ed Invitational Tuesday under very favorable weather conditions in Woodward. The Rams had 150 points to 139 for Nodaway Valley. W-G had 110, followed by Glidden-Ralston 82, West Central Valley 63, and two points for Paton-Churdan.
Junior Maddy Sigler won the 100 meter dash in 13.82 seconds and the 400 meter dash in 1:07.23. Sophomore Brooklyn Olson won both throwing events. She threw 34′ 6″ in the shot put and 120′ 4″ in the discus. Sophomore Brianna Osterson went 16′ 2″ to win the long jump. The Rams won two relays. The shuttle hurdle relay was timed in 1:14.43 with senior Melanie Doran, sophomore Lily Muir, junior Izzy Bravard, and sophomore Maddy Van Pelt, while the quartet of Doran, Sigler, sophomore Makala Kafer, and Osterson won the 4 x 100 meter relay in :53.56.
Osterson long jumps late tomorrow afternoon at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, and the 4 x 100 relay runs at Drake on Saturday morning.
