The 2019 Raccoon River Conference Art Festival was held recently, and students from Perry High School enjoyed a great deal of success.
Of the 14 art students that took part, eight of them either placed or took honorable mention for their pieces. That includes two students that received first place in their respective categories: Ethan Miller in sculpture, and Jasmine Shriver in jewelry. Those two categories proved the strongest for the Perry entries, as Allie Taggart and Beau Nelson took second and third place, respectively in sculpture, and Hiromi Rosas earned second in jewelry. Rosas also received honorable mention in graphic design, and the others to receive honorable mention were Jocelyn Fuentes in graphite drawing and Neveah Carter in 2D collage.
Overall, Perry received 4th place in their district at the event, which was held on April 17th at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School. Perry Art Teacher Savannah Belgarde felt the students represented the school well at the festival, and she offered her congratulations to all of them for their recognition.
