The deadline to apply for a grant through the Perry Hotel/Motel Tax fund was supposed to be this past Wednesday, but instead it has been extended to this coming Monday.

Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti says the concept of a deadline may sound strange to people already familiar with the Hotel/Motel Tax grants, as there has never been a cut off before. “So this year we are changing things up. Before it was kind of an ongoing process, there was no deadline, if you knew about the grant opportunity you could submit an application. We’re structuring it a little bit more so we can kind of get the word out there and have a process in place. So this’ll be new and so it’ll be tricky for people not used to the deadline, but we’ll have two grant periods within a one-year cycle. That’s kind of what we’ve come up with as a good option for the Board to work with and community members to have that deadline in place.”

The deadlines for grant submissions will typically be the third Wednesday of April and October, though the current deadline has been extended since the process is still new. The grants will then be awarded each May and November. To learn more about the Perry Hotel/Motel Tax grants, stop in or call the Chamber at 515-465-4601.
