The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The meeting began with Transfer Station Director Jotham Arber and Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson discussing a fiscal year 2019 budget amendment. Next, Conservation Director Joe Hanner requested a fiscal year 2019 budget amendment of $55,924.41 that would come out of the department’s reserve and restricted use funds. Hanner says he’s looking at hiring a bridge inspector to look at all of Conservation’s bridges, particularly on the Raccoon River Valley Trail, to see if there is any damage from last month’s flooding. The Board also approved rescinding their approval of a fireworks permit for the Menlo Sesquicentennial Committee, as it is in the City’s jurisdiction.
Finally, the Board discussed the timeline of the jail project with Sheriff Marty Arganbright, Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard, Michael Lewis of Shive-Hattery Architecture and Engineering, and Sid Samuels of the Samuels Group. Additionally, Lewis presented an amendment to their professional services agreement for land surveying and civil engineering master planning, if the Supervisors wish to reconstruct the courthouse parking lot. The total services cost would be $9,500. Lewis, Leonard, and Samuels also gave their support to scheduling a bond referendum vote this November instead of August. The Board tabled action on the amendment pending the County Attorney’s review.
