A number of track & field standouts will be competing in Jefferson today at the Coed Ram Relays hosted by Greene County at Linduska Field. Starting time is 4:30 p.m. Among those in the field is Ram junior Carter Morton, one of Iowa’s top high jumpers. Morton cleared 6′ 8″ last Monday at the Carroll Coed Relays for the third highest jump by a high school boy from an Iowa high school this season. He is an automatic Drake Relays qualifier in that event. Other Greene County high school record holders are in the field, as well as standouts from the other schools in the field.

The eight boys’ teams include the Rams, ACGC, Boone, Carroll High, East Sac County, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), Perry, and Saydel (Des Moines). Girls teams include Greene County, ADM, Boone, Carroll High, East Sac County, Kuemper Catholic, Perry, and South Tama County (Tama).

There will be team scoring, and the meet acts as a qualifier for the upcoming Drake Relays in Des Moines. The last a coach can enter performances to be considered for Drake Relays qualification in 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.
