The Guthrie Center School Board met in regular session Monday.

The meeting began with a public hearing for the 2019-2020 certified budget, and there was no public comment. The Board then approved the budget with a proposed tax rate of $12.37, as well as a budget guarantee resolution. Next, the Board approved a two-year contract proposal with the Guthrie Center Education Association with a 2.83% salary increase in year one and a 4% increase in year two. The Board also approved the 2019-2020 salary schedule and certified staff handbook with no change in language for two years.

The Board then approved the 2019-2020 calendar, pending the Adair-Casey Board’s approval. The start date would be August 23rd and ending date would be May 22nd. Finally, the Board agreed to advertise for the high school girls’ basketball coaching position, they approved a room rental lease and a 28E purchasing agreement with the Heartland Area Education Agency, and gave first readings to Board policy.
