A former Jefferson teen, who was charged with attempted murder in Ames, had pled guilty to lesser charges.
According to court documents, 18-year-old Rodney Dean Halterman pled guilty to lesser felonies of willful injury causing bodily injury, and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. Halterman was originally charged for a Class B Felony for attempted murder when he allegedly shot a female victim in the chest inside a residence in the 100 block of South Russell Avenue in Ames on January 12th. The victim was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center where she was later released.
Halterman is also facing several felonies in Greene County in two unrelated incidents. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
