ISU Extension and Outreach Week seeks to celebrate the varied aspects of programming they provide to Iowa communities, and Guthrie County is exemplifying their support of economic development with an upcoming workshop.

Grant Writing 101 is sponsored by Guthrie County Extension and the Guthrie Center Development Group, and will take place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16th at the Extension office in Guthrie Center. The workshop will be presented by Community and Economic Development Specialist Abbie Gaffey, who has over 25 years of experience writing and reviewing grant applications and working with various grant programs. Participants are asked to bring a laptop or other mobile device for hands-on, online activities during the program.

Extension Program Coordinator Krista Downing encourages those seeking to write successful grant applications to attend, “The benefit of attending this workshop would be that you would learn how to properly write the grant, you would learn the process, places that are offering the grant. I’ve attended this workshop myself and I thought it was a large benefit for me getting to see the different places that offer grants and how the process should be going through it, not just sitting down two days before it’s due and completing the grant.”

Cost to attend is $10 and a light meal will be served at the start of the program. The deadline to register is tomorrow, to register call 641-747-2276.
