Greene County plays host to Grand View Christian of Des Moines today in the Rams’ home opener for boys’ soccer. It’s one varsity match at 5:30 p.m. in Grand Junction because GVC doesn’t have enough players for a JV team.

The Rams are 2-0 and Head Coach Carl Behne tells Raccoon Valley Radio what he’d like to see today from the fan base. “I think the weather will draw out a large crowd for us, if not just to see the boys. It’s the home opener and it sounds like the weather’s on our side, so hopefully some great energy from the crowd for the boys and kick us off on the right foot for the home schedule in Grand Junction.”

The coach talks about what he’s like in the first two matches from his team. “We talked a lot in preseason and before each of our first two matches about starting each half and ending each half strong, and we’ve be able to do that. And, possessing the ball. We’ve got a goal to possess the ball 60% of the time. We’re able to take advantage of some great tools with the HUDL software and so far we’ve been right around 58-59%, so just a little shy of our goal, but we’re really feeling pretty good about where we’re at this early in the season.”

GVC is 1-0 going into today’s match.
