The ACGC track and field teams wrapped up another good week of competition at Van Meter Thursday. The Boys finished in 2nd and the Girls finished in 3rd as a team.

On the boys side, seniors Clay Billheimer and Noah Nelsen continue to glide through the middle and long distance events. Billheimer took the 400 and 800 meter titles while Nelsen grabbed the 1600 and 3200. All four wins were season best times for the seniors, with Nelsen’s finish in the 3200 less than a second off breaking his own school record. Billheimer finished right behind Nelsen in the 1600 for 2nd.

Senior Dylan Soper added a 2nd place finish in the 100 meter dash and a 3rd in the 200. Other top-three finishes included the distance medley relay team (2nd), junior Quynton Younker in the shot put (3rd), and the 4×400 meter relay team (3rd).

On the girls side, junior Kate Crawford grabbed another title in the 1500, finishing nearly 28 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. The other top finish for the Charger girls came in the 4×800 meter relay, finishing nearly ten seconds ahead of 2nd place Panorama. Other top three finishes for the girls included: sophomore Rylee Sloss in the 800 (2nd), junior Jackie Trujillo-Garcia in the 3000 (2nd), senior Madison McDermott in the shot put (2nd) and discus (3rd), senior Lauryn Embleton in the 1500 (3rd), sophomore Audrey Stowe in the 400 meter hurdles (3rd), freshman Chloe Largent in the high jump (3rd), the sprint medley relay (3rd) and the distance medley relay (2nd).
