Nine Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School students are participating in the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa today.
This fair is open to students in grades 6-12 to meet with professional researchers and communicate their project findings and understanding of the research process. Students have the opportunity to receive scholarships and be selected to attend the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona. ACGC students Hailey Kintz and Alyssa Byars recently qualified at the Western Iowa Science and Engineering Fair.
Kintz shares what inspired her science project, “Well, I want to be a doctor so I’ve always been interested in science and medicine and everything, but solving a world problem was really my big interest that kept me going.”
Byars thanks teacher Alexa Groff and others for motivating her to participate in these fairs, “Ms. Groff just always pushing me to do great things, and my parents always being there to support me when I go through things like this. And just being pushed through it knowing there’s a great outcome at the end.”
The State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa is held by the state 4-H program at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.
