The winning team for Perry Sesquicentennial Trivia: Newbies

After two previous attempts were foiled by winter weather, the Perry Sesquicentennial Trivia event was at long last held Thursday night.

The festivities took place at La Poste, and six teams of various sizes took part. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Chris Cohea served as the emcee for the proceedings. The eight categories were all Perry themed, ranging from the Perry Fire Department to Hotel Pattee, and it also tested attendees’ knowledge of important dates and landmarks in the City’s history. In the end, it was a team called “Newbies” that was victorious, and they each earned a free challenge coin featuring the newly unveiled logo for the Perry Sesquicentennial.

This was the first fundraiser for the 150th celebration, which will be held Fourth of July weekend. Organizers estimated over $300 was raised at the event. They plan on having more fundraisers in the coming months. Additionally, anyone who missed the trivia night won’t have to wait long to make up for it, as the next Trivia with Friends event hosted by the Friends of the Perry Public Library is scheduled for Thursday, April 11th.
