The West Central Valley boys track and field team is gearing up for another year. Earlier this week we highlighted returning long distance runner Louden Foster. Today we look at another component the Wildcats feel strong in: Relays.
Specifically, head coach Eric Addy mentioned the 4×400 meter team as one to watch out for this year. “I’m definitely excited for this track season. We have probably our biggest relay event coming back, our 4×400 team. Ended up being the conference champion and then the district champion, qualifying for state. We’ll have to replace Billy Larsen off that. We’re losing a big piece, losing him in the 400 hurdles and he’s one of our legs in the 400s. But we still have those three pieces in Brice Sechrist, Carson Wadle, and Cole Arnburg.”
The team finished in 20th out of 23 completed teams at last year’s state meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Addy added that all three returning relay runners will also compete in other events this season for the Wildcats. The Wildcats will open competitive action on Tuesday, March 26th at the Earlham Early Bird Invitational.
