Earlier this week, the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn track and field teams made the trek to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls to open the 2019 season. Sophomore Nate Mueller and senior Lucas Heitz each recorded top-ten finishes for the ADM boys squad.

Mueller had the highest placement for the Tigers, finishing in 5th place with a time of 4:40.49. The Class 3A 3rd place finisher in the state cross country meet last fall led all Raccoon River Conference runners in Cedar Falls on Tuesday. Dubuque Hempstead senior David Holesinger won the invite with a time of 4:31.94. Mueller also finished 11th in the 3200 with a time of 10:07.61.

Heitz reached the top ten in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line in the finals in 10th with a time of 8.67. He also finished 10th in his preliminary race, but shave two one-hundredths of a second off his preliminary time in the finals. Other top-50 finishes for the ADM boys squad include: sophomore Tate Stine-Smith (18th-High Jump), sophomore Ethan Jurgens (26th-400 meter dash and 800 meter run), junior Brady Hegarty (47th-800 meter run), freshman Quinton Kimrey (41st-1600 meter run), and the boys 4×400 meter relay team (24th).
