The Panorama track and field teams have already dipped their toes in the competition water for the 2019 season. The Panthers broke five indoor records at the Dickinson Relays at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on Monday.

Though the boys squad hasn’t gotten a chance to show their skills competitively yet, Thompson  is optimistic they’ll have a great season. He points out a couple in particular that will help lead the Panthers this year. “Boys side returning state qualifiers. You have Spencer Hunt. He should be a real stud for us in the 100, 200, (and) 400 range. Then Gracen Welberg, returning high jump from the state meet. Just watching him play basketball, we’re super excited. In fact we’ve upped his goals a little bit in the high jump. Then he fills in for us in some of the shorter sprint races. He can run up to a 400 if we need him too.”

Thompson also mentioned junior Luke South as a key athlete in this year’s boys lineup for the Panthers. The girls side also returns several state qualifiers, including seniors Morgan Johnk and Lydia Knapp, as well as sophomore Ella Waddle.
