The yearly tradition to “spring forward” is upon us, as Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday.

Starting at 2 a.m., the State of Iowa will move from Central Standard to Central Daylight Time, jumping ahead one hour. Additionally, Perry Fire Chief Chris Hinds emphasizes that the bi-annual clock altering observance is also an ideal time to change the batteries in your emergency alarms. He recommends putting fresh batteries in all of the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your house twice a year, and the beginning and end of Daylight Saving Time are logical milestones to remind you to do so.

Daylight Saving Time will end on Sunday, November 3rd this year.
