A Canadian man was unharmed in a single semi accident yesterday morning on Interstate 80 about a mile and half east of Stuart.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 25 year-old Sumeet Sidhu of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was westbound in the left lane of I-80 near mile-marker 95 at around 4:30am, when he swerved to avoid a vehicle that was drifting into his lane from the right. Sidhu lost control of his freightliner semi-truck, when his trailer entered the median and caused him to lose control.
When Sidhu could not regain control, the semi entered the median and rolled to its left side.
Iowa State Patrol reports estimate the semi’s damage to be severe with the cost of repair being at least $10,000.
Sidhu was cited for failure to maintain control by the Iowa State Patrol officer investigating the scene.
