Late in 2018, the Perry Public Library unveiled their latest offering to the community: the Adventure Pass. Now they’ve announced that the locations to use the passes have expanded.

Library Director Mary Murphy explains, Adventure Passes allow patrons to check out a free experience as if it were a library book. The list of destinations started out as the Blank Park Zoo and Science Center of Iowa, both in Des Moines. Murphy says a few local locations have now been added in the form of the McCreary Community Building and the Perry Grand 3 Theater. Family passes for two adults and two kids can be checked out, and all someone needs is a library card in good standing to visit any of the four locations free of charge.

Murphy says the Adventure Pass program is used at several other libraries in central Iowa, and she felt bringing it to Perry was a no-brainer. “The things that libraries give to the community, or library services, have evolved in the last five years to encompass so many things. So I kind of look at what other libraries are doing and see if it’s suitable for the Perry community.”

Murphy adds, now that the options have started to expand and with the weather expected to get warmer, she’s excited to see the kind of usage they get in the coming months. For more information on the Adventure Pass program, including how to check one out, click the link below.
