The Perry City Council convened Tuesday evening for a regular session on a special night.

The meeting was moved due to Presidents Day on Monday. In old business, the Council approved a resolution to set a public hearing on Monday, March 4th at 6 p.m. for the presentation of the fiscal year 2020 budget. Finance Officer Susie Moorhead said the tax levy for the coming year is $17.80 per $1,000 of assessed value, which is six-cents lower than the previous year. Copies of the proposed budget for the public to view are available at the Perry Public Library and City Hall.

In new business, the Council approved the submittal of an application to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for a $1.2 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) grant. The money is being requested as part of the wastewater treatment plant project funding, and it would be used for smaller stormwater projects throughout the City.
